Fahrradschau 2018 in Berlin
27. March / Germany
This past weekend, the Berliner Fahrradschau kicked off with a schedule packed full of great exhibitions, exciting races and beautiful bikes—and an atmosphere unlike any other bike show. The three-day event brings together hundreds of bike brands and thousands of cycling enthusiasts for a chance to show off and explore what’s changing in the world of two wheels.
This year, Far Ride was at Fahrrad to share some of our tales from the road as well as to meet with friends from some of our past adventures. We put together a video installation sharing some of our favorite photos spanning the entire Far Ride series as well as a few talks offering a behind the scenes look at our magazine.
Being our first visit to Fahrradschau, we were excited to enjoy the inclusive nature of the show, with industry leaders sharing the floor with up-and-coming independent brands. The result is an event that feels less like a trade show and more like a group of cycling friends gathered to chat about a shared passion.
Every year, the event organizers partner with Rad Race to hold an indoor criterium. This year, a new venue saw groups of eight racing elbow to elbow around a fast and winding go-kart track as top riders advanced through each round. If you’ve come to Fahrradschau by bike, there’s even a group ride from Station Berlin to the Rad Race location before the event.
Hanging out with event organizers over the course of the weekend, you get a sense of not only how passionate they are about all things cycling, but also how truly dedicated they are to making the event as good as it can be. The end result is a weekend that is as impressively large as it is personal.
Fahrradschau is a bike show in only a way Berlin could do it. We were honored to take part and look forward to returning next year—as if we ever need an excuse to visit Berlin.
